First Day Back

Welcome Back!

The staff of St. Theresa school is looking forward to welcoming everybody on Tuesday morning.  They will be out on the pavement in front of the school to welcome students as they arrive.  Students will remain in that space until the bell rings at 9:00 am.  As you are aware, students will not know who their classroom teacher is upon arrival as class lists and staff organizations were still being finalized at the end of June.

At the 9:00 a.m. bell, students in grades 1 to 8 will say good-bye to their parent(s)/guardian(s) outside and they will join school staff in the gym. Once in the gym students will find areas designated to their current grade.  Teachers will then collect their students and proceed to class.

Our kindergarten team will meet the ELKP students Tuesday morning but will go straight to their classroom when the 9:00 bell rings. To begin helping our youngest learners transition to school, the children will wish their parent(s)/guardian(s) a great day outside and then proceed with our fabulous kindergarten team into school.  During this process, parents will be able to find out where to meet their children at the end of the day if they are picking them up.

IF YOUR CHILD WOULD NORMALLY TAKE A BUS HOME BUT BECAUSE IT IS THE FIRST WEEK WILL BE PICKED UP, PLEASE COMMUNICATE THIS TO THE SCHOOL.  IF WE DO NOT HEAR DIFFERENTLY, WE WILL FOLLOW THE TRANSPORTATION SCHEDULE PROVIDED TO US.

We ask for your patience as we work to help all students understand the routines and ensure that everybody arrives and departs in a safe way.  To this end, you will notice that we are attempting to keep most parents outside and not wandering our hallways- this is not because we don’t want to see you, nor do we want you to feel unwelcome.  We are simply minimizing the number of extra adults wandering in our school halls in order to ensure a safe and organized transition to school.  As on any day, if your child arrives late to school please bring them to the office and we will make sure they get to class so that you can go about your very busy day.  We know that the first day is difficult and the unknown can be hard- be assured that all school staff will be on hand to assist and provide direction.  Please ask any staff member if you need assistance.

See you on Tuesday!
